Main Stage on the pier, great audience, lovely lighting and a superb soundman. What more could we ask? This is what festivals are supposed to be about.

It was great fun to invite Sue, Mike (centre) and Hector (right) up to share Old Fashioned Saturday Night last weekend. Brilliant night, I won three prizes on the Tombola! This is a great club that gets regular and steadfast support from all concerned. No wonder, with hosts like Mike and Maureen.

I took my own PA to Bob Drage's Old Fashioned Saturday Night Concert, I
felt that it would lift things a bit as the room didn't have a whole lot
going for it acoustically. Lovely night, Bob and Kathy said they had a
wonderful time. It was lovely to see Ton and Lian there, all the way
from Holland. It was Lian's birthday too but I didn't find out until I
got home and found the message about that from Ton. A belated happy
birthday Lian and lots of love too.

This was a super afternoon and it was very enjoyable to be able to listen to the other acts as well.
Stephi Shaw opened up the concert with a really fine set, great voice and a lovely way with the audience.
It was a pleasure to follow Stephi on stage and I found the audience warm and recepetive. The next act from Zimbabwe were Umdumo Wesizwe. 8 people in all with three musicians and five dancers and singers, they knocked everyone over.
Emily Smith closed the concert, it was wonderful to hear her clear and pristine vocals and I loved it when she played accordion, she's brilliant!

Croppers 25th Birthday Party took place last Friday 30th July and I was delighted when they asked me to come and play for them. It was a lovely evening, not the least because Anna Shannon came over to play some songs too, we played a song together as well and though nobody took a picture of us (sigh) playing together someone did of us posing for someone else! Anna also played flute along with Russ Hughes, (club organiser and general brilliant bloke) and so I have included a pic of them together as well. I'm not sure who enjoyed themsleves more, everyone who played or the audience. It's a wonderful feeling to play for people who just give you back everything that you give them except that it comes back stronger. Here are a few photos to mark the occasion.

Me and Anna, this girl is a star!
Thank you Croppers, you guys are brilliant!
This is what happens when I play The Acoustic Tearoom. It makes me smile, a lot!

August 2009 at Longstone Cafe Scilly Isles, it was a great few days and the company I was in as good as anyone could ask for.
